TRAVEL BY CAR
CONDUCT OF STATE
BUSINESS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, This Day. In the opinion of the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, who arrived at Napier last night en route to Gisborne, the splendidlysurfaced highways of the Dominion have not only quickened transport and business but have greatly helped in the acceleration of Ministerial and departmental affairs. In an interview Mr. Parry said that by employing an official car from Wellington to Napier or to New Plymouth it was possible to break the long journey at various centres to clear up work requiring personal attention which, when travelling by train, could not be' attended to in one day. Trains today .were mostly used by members of Cabinet and executive State officials when their main public business away from the capital was at the train's destination. "Travelling by car through busy centres," Mr. Parry said, "crowds one's day'with more than the usual amount of work, but from it comes as a satisfaction on all sides that the work has I been done."
