FORT DORSET

ASSOCIATION FORMED

Further evidence of the desire of citizens generally to take an active interest in members of the Territorial Force was given at a meeting held at Fort Dorset last evening. Lieutenan'Colonel W. F. Stilwell presided over a representative gathering and apologies, together with promises of practical support, were received from a number of citizens. In his opening remarks Lieutenant* Colonel Stilwell expressed appreciation of the interest shown by those attending and also commented on the fact that the units at Fort Dorset, of which the 15th (Heavy) Battery had been long associated, were now at full strength. He stressed the valuable assistance which.could be given by citizens showing the men that their services were appreciated and suggested that this was a mean: of service which could be well rendered by those not eligible 'to be members of the forces. Lieutenant-Colonel Stilwell mentioned several ways by which assistance could be given and appealed to those present to form an association for Fort Dorset. A GOOD TYPE. j Captain B. Barrington, area recruiting officer, outlined the objects and organisation of unit associations. tie stated that the young men in the local units were of a very good type and j they were keen to.carry out their duties efficiently. All that was now required' was to have - organised body of citizens to show the members of the Territorial Force that the sacrifice they were making was recognised and to assist the units in whatever way possible.
