A MEETING "FLOPS"
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, June 15. A meeting arranged at her suggestion i was addressed by Mrs. Hilda Trail, of ' Christchurch, at Dannevirke this afternoon. Over 300 were present to hear what it was supposed would have been opposition to the Social Security Act from the women's viewpoint. The meeting was advertised as non-political, but the speaker, unable to answer requests for detailed information on the Act, developed a strong anti-Government attitude in an address of about half an hour.
After a brief discussion the gathering dispersed without passing a resolution of any kind or forming a branch of the New Zealand Women's Social Security Protest League, of which Mrs. Trail is the leader.
The meeting was justifiably described as a "flop."
Afterwards about thirty signed a petition to repeal the Social Security Act.
It is understood that the contemplated itinerary of addresses by Mrs Trail has been abandoned.
