A moderate anticyclone covers the Tasman Sea and northern Xew Zealand. Shallow westerly depressions have been passing in the south causing winds over the South Island to vary between north-west and south-west. Southwesterlies have! continued in the north. Strong winds have occurred at times near Foveaux Strait, but otherwise the force has been light or moderate. The weather has been rather changeable in the south with occasional rain, and a few light showers have occurred elsewhere in western districts, but for the most part conditions have been fair and the temperatures moderate.
