SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS,

An extensive anti-cyclone has been spreading across the Tasman Sea towards New Zea land, while weak depressions preceding It have been crossing the country. Both yesterday and today the winds were chiefly light to moderate south-westerlies, although strong at times in the far north and south. Sea breezes blew temporarily about Canterbury in the afternoon. A few light passing showers have fallen In west crn and southern oarta of the South Island and in the Auckland Province, but for the most part the weather has been fine. Frosts occurred last night, but temperatures have been becoming milder.
