(iteceived June 15, 9.30 am.) N
MELBOURNE, This ODay.
[ At the West Melbourne Stadium last i night a crowd of 10,000 witnessed a return fight between the Australian middleweight boxer, Ron. Richards (list 51b). and the coloured American, Ossie Stewart (list 71b). The decision went to Stewart in the tenth round when the bout was stopped on a doctor's instructions owing to R'chards's left eye being completely, closed by a blow which he receivet in the fourth round. The injury caused considerable bleeding, seriously hampering Richards.
The contest was exciting all throuph, if only for Stewart's gameness, his capacity for trking punishment, and his splendid rallies. Competent critics thought that "Richards would have won had the bout • continued for the full term.
