POWER FAILURES

AUCKLAND, June 13,

Several districts were plunged in darkness for periods varying from 30 minutes to two hours tonight when a fault developed in the cable supplying the city.

The interruption was the outcome of a severe electrical storm experienced in the Auckland Province. Areas affected included Ponsonby, Freeman's Bay.. Mount Albert, and New Lynn. Other interruptions were caused in outlying districts by branches which were torn from trees by- a strong south-westerly wind experienced over 'a wide area.
