CRUSHED BETWEEN LOGS

HASTINGS, June 12

A fatality occurred at a timber mill at Te Harorto, near Napier, early this morning ,when a Maori. Taihe Apiata. aged 48, vas u"ushed between two giant logs. He was so severely injured that he died a few minutes after he was extricated by his workmates.

Mr. Apiata was moving logs on skidways when one shot own behind him. Losing his foothold he was unable to get clear and was pinned between two trunks.
