Llewellin, Civil Lord of the Admiralty, stated in a number of written Parliamentary answers yes» terday that when the Naval Survey vessel Endeavour returned to Auckland the Commodore commanding the New Zealand Station intended to order ■ a full confidential inquiry into desertions arid punishment in the ship. The investigation would be thorough, and no rating who made* representa^ tions in the proper Service manner would be penalised. In the last two years it had been . necessary to stop the allotments of eight ratings, one stoker petty officer, two stokers first class, and five able seamen, owing to desertion.
