THE TEST CASE *

GOVERNMENT-TO APPEAL

The Attorney-General (the Hon. H. G. R. Mason) stated today that consideration had been given to the judgment of Mr. Justice Callan in the test case brought by E. Jackson and C0.,, Auckland, against the Collector of Customs for wrongful detention of .imported goods under the/Import Control Regulations, and it had been decided to appeal from that judgment to the Court of Appeal.

Application for a fixture for the hearing of the appeal will be made at the next sitting of the Court of Appeal at Wellington, which commences on June 12.
