Nearly 2000 p£jr;3ons went to the railway station thisji evening to say goodbye to the Priiohe Minister, who left for Wellington ; after four days in Christchurch. /
When the Ministerial car arrived at the station the^Prime Minister's party was greeted wiich cheers.
Mr. Savage, /^preceded by Mr. Sullivan, made his j'way slowly to the platform. Men 9(7 id women pushed and jostled in ap. attempt to catch a glimpse of Mjj-. Savage as he went to the Ministerial carriage. There cheering was renea/ed.
Mr. Savage;/ addressed the crowd, thanking them for his reception in Christchurchd and the warmth of his farewell. /
Though tfc.e crowd was compressed into a smalj? space on the narrow platform, no mij shaps were reported; The engine-drivjbr moved the train very slowly awrry, to make certain of avoiding injury/ to those who were pushed close to tA-ie carriages.
