THE KING AND QUEEN
NO OVERTURES YET MADE

CHRISTCHURCH, May 30
"Though no overtures have been made either from here or Great Britain for a visit to New Zealand by the King and Queen, there can be no doubt about what would happen if their Majesties decided to make the trip," said the Prime Minister, the Hon. M. J. Savage, today. When the cabled reports of the possibility of a Royal tour of Australia and New Zealand were referred to Mr. Savage, he said the only information he had so far had been obtained from the newspapers.
Mr. .Savage added that he was sure the people of New Zealand would be delighted if the King and Queen decided to come and that they would receive an overwhelming reception.
Mr. Savage said that no date had been definitely fixed for the yisit of the Duke and Duchess of Kent dflring the Centennial, but he believed it would be towards the end of the year.
