IMPORTATIONS THIS YEAR

The capital value of the rolling stock and tarpaulins now in service on the New Zealand railways is £12,000,000, including the cost of the rolling stock placed in service during the last finan^ cial year, amounting to £738,820, said Mr. G. H. Mackley, General Manager of Railways, at Victoria College last evening. The approved building programme for locomotives and rolling stock represents an outlay of £3.802,478, including the cost of the 40 locomotives and 10 railcars which are being imported this year.
