LONDON, May 26,

England's Test captain, W. R. Hammond, made the highest individual score in the latest series of county cricket matches, carrying his bat for 192 in Gloucestershire's total of 353 against Hampshire. Other prominent players in form with the bat were Compton (Middlesex), Nichols (Essex), Paynter (Lancashire), and Hutton and Yardley (Yorkshire). Nichels also took five wickets for 35 runs.

Results are: —

Middlesex v. Hampshire, at Lord's. —Middlesex 402 (Compton 143) and 8 for one. Hampshire 183 and, following on, 224. Middlesex won by nine wickets.

Gloucestershire v. Warwickshire, at Bristol.—-Warwickshire 181 (Sinfield four for 37) and 156 (Goddard six for 66). Gloucestershire 353 (Hammond 192 not out). Gloucestershire won by an innings and 16 runs.

Leicestershire v. Lancashire, at Leicester. —Lancashire 464 for eight, declared (Washbrook 91, Nutter 86, Paynter 159) and 243 for six, declared (Iddon 100). Leicestershire 361 (Armstrong 97, Dempster 51) and^294 for eight. Lancashire won on the first innings.

Northamptonshire v. Glamorgan, at Kettering.—Northamptonshire 191 (E. Davies four for 49) and 138 (E. Davies four for 30). Glamorgan 162 (Buswell five for 38) and 170 for four. Glamorgan won by six wickets.

Sussex v. Essex, at Hove. —Sussex 149 (Stephenson four for 21) and 244 (Nichols five for 35). Essex 406 (Nichols 146). Essex won by ,-an innings and 13 runs.

Cambridge University v. Yorkshire, at Cambridge.—Cambridge 84 (Bowes four for 31) -and 369 (Brodhurst 106 not out). Yorkshire 350 for two, declared (Hutton 102, Yardley 140 not out) and 104 for one. Yorkshire won by nine wickets.
