"MOTHERS' & DAUGHTERS' " EVENING

The Lyall Bay-Kilbirnie branch of the League of Mothers held its second "mother and daughter" evening recently in the Methodist Church hall. There was an excellent attendance. The vicepresident, Mrs. Tilyard, was in the chair, and welcomed all present, specially the "daughters" and representatives from the Petone, Central, and Johnsonville branches. The speaker for the evening was Miss Heien McDonald, physical culture director of the Y.W.C.A., who gave an address on physical training, which she illustrated v»vth exercises. An enrolment service was held, seven new members being admitted. The thought for the month was given by Mrs. R. Brown —"the good we do today becomes the happiness of tomorrow." A "mother and daughter" quartet was sung by Mesdames Lewis, Cuthwaite, Montgomery, and Miss Outhwaite. who gave a bracket of two items. Miss Gwen Lewis also sang. Buttonhole sprays were presented to the soloist and speaker by Mrs. Tilyard. Supper was served by the committee.
