NEW PLYMOUTH, May 22.

Importations of phosphate into New Zealand have increased considerably in the past few months. The reason given today for the additional imports through; New Plymouth .was the desire to accumulate reserve supplies in case of war. .

Mr. J. L. Mander, manager of the New Zealand Farmers' Fertiliser Co.; Ltd., works in New Plymouth, stated that a quantity of phosphate sufficient to last six months was being built up as provision for wartime emergencj'. Reserve supplies would be stored oufr side, and stocks under cover were also being built up. A recently-completed store gave space for an additional 6000 tons of raw material,
