SECOND DIVISION
ONSLOW AND PETONE
With the forward divisions evenly matched in skill arid determination (the determination more pronounced than the skill), it was the fleet-footed Onslow backs who gave their side the advantage and paved the way for a. victory by 14 points to nil over Petone. They took a quarter of an hour or so to get into their stride but after that they lost no opportunity, of swinging into action, even in their own twenty-five. It was only the determined tackling of the Petone team, backs and forwards alike, that prevented the margin of points from being greater than it was. In spite of the superiority of the Onstow rearguard, however, it was the pack which provided the try-getters, Dennis and Bentley. L. Thomas converted both tries and the remaining four points came from a "potted" goal by Gini. Mr. J. X. Kitchen was the referee.
