FOURTH SERIES ON SATURDAY

MARIST AND WELLINGTON IN THE LEAD

Rugby matches in Wellington on Saturday were contested at fast clips in fine but windy weather. Main interest centred in the appearance of two of the unbeaten teams, Marist Bros. Old Boys and Petone, at Athletic Park, and after a keen and very close tussle the former ran out winners by a converted try to a try. With four wins and 8 points each, Wellington and Marist Bros. Old Boys now head the senior championship table, followed by Petone and Hutt (who lost to Poneke on Saturday), 6 points each. Johnsonville and Wellington scored comfortable wins over Eastbourne and University respectively, Wellington College Old Boys just scraped home against St. Patrick's College Old Boys, and Oriental held' Athletic to a draw.
