The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, reports a decided improvement in both pigs and poultry at their fair on Thursday. Though small entries were offered, the demand was very keen, resulting in weaners selling up to 11s each, and slips to 20s 6d, Poultry was very keenly sought after, best W.L. hens realising 3s 3d each with a corresponding increase for all breeds. Quotations: Pigs, best weaners, 11s, slips 15s to 20s 6d, stores 17s to 21s 6d. Poultry: Best W.L. hens 6s to 6s 6d pair, heavy 8.0. hens 7s to 8s per pair; ducks, 6s to 8s per pair; cockerels, 5s to 8s per pair; light hens, 4s to 5s per pair. Produce: Apples, Delicious, 6s to 9s 6d per case; Stunners, 6s to 7s 6d; Rome Beauties, 6s to 8s; Granny Smiths, 8s to 9s 6d; Ballarats, 6s to 7s 6d; Jonathans, 6s to 7s 6d. Pears, Winter Nelis, 3s to 5s 6d per f case; Winter Coles, 6s to 7s 6d; Keif ers, 5s to 6s 6d.
