ANTI-COMINTERN PACT
JAPAN'S PROPOSAL
POINTED AT SOVIET
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.)
(Received May 19, 1.10 p.m.)
' LONDON, May 13,
The Tokio correspondent of "The Times" says that skilful draughtsmanship has evolved a satisfactory formula for strengthening the. AntiComintern Agreement which the Japanese Government is prepared to effect in preference to the proposed military alliance.
It is learned that the new agreement gives neither military, economic, nor political pledges, but definitely strengthens the Anti-Co-mintern Pact and sharpens its point against the Soviet.
Japan is not pledged to enter any quarrel unless her own paramount interests in East Asia are affected, but the new pact aligns Japan a shade more definitely with one of the two great camps into which the world is being divided.
