GISBORNE, May 13. The Poverty Bay Turf Club's Steeplechase Meeting opened at Makaraka in fine weather. The track was in good order. There was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £8067 10s, compared with £4482 last year, an increase of £3585 10s.-
