ABOLITION PROPOSAL

WOMEN'S OPPOSITION

LONDON, May 11

Hundreds of delegates at a women's conservative conference at the Queen's Hall today yelled an emphatic "no" when asked to support a Home Office report recommending the abolition of the "cat" for offenders against women and children.

Of the 2500 delegates, 2439 voted in favour of the retention of flogging.
