CRAWFORD CRESCENT
The second match of the major Wellington clubs' 1939 season for the Crawford Crescent will be played on Saturday afternoon, between the Wellington and Miramar Clubs. The A teams will meet at the Heretaunga links and the B teams at Miramar.
In view of the result of the recent A teams match at the Hei*etaunga links, between Wellington and Hutt —a draw, three games each and *wo squared—special interest is being J manifested in the forthcoming appearance of the Miramar side, which will be making its first appearance this season. It is reasonable to assume that they will be a strong combination, but on their home links, and with players like D. H. Graham, North Island (close) amateur champion, in top form, Wellington will be hard to beat.
A. D. S. Duncan is again Wellington's No. 2 man, and it is to be hoped that in the last couple of weeks he has come on to his driving again. Against W. B. Reilly (Hutt) recently he was right off colour with the long tee shots, a factor which contributed largely to his defeat.
The Heretaunga links —now almost entirely rid of the Onehunga weed— are in first-class order, the greens are well coated and steady, and indications are for some excellent scoring on Saturday, provided the weather is kind.
