SOUTHLAND DISTRICT

DUNEDIN, This Day,

Exceptionally heavy pat crops, believed to establish a record for New Zealand, have been obtained in Southland this season. In very many cases 80 bushels to the acre have been returned, while in not a few instances 100-bushel yields have been obtained In specially-favoured areas even higher yields are reported. One hundred and thirty bushels were harvested in one district. That is exceptional. .The average yield will be between 80 and 90 bushels.
