SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS

The meteorological situation remains almost identical with that of yesterday. An intense anticyclone is centred just east of the South Island, while there are depressions far to the east of the North Island and in the north-west Tasman Sea. Moderate to strong but gradually, decreasing south-easterlies have prevailed from Xclson and Marlborough northwards, while winds have been light and variable thenco southwards. Kxcept for passing light showers between Banks Peninsula and East Cape, the weather, although cold, has been fine over the whole Dominion.
