A DAY FOR NO. 13

Horses carrying No. 13 saddle doth had a remarkably successful run at the Auckland Trotting Club's Autumn Meeting at Epsom on Saturday, when no fewer than five were successful, states the "New Zealand Herald." They were Our Jewel, Gay Moko, Navy Blue, successive winners, Marcus and Three Bells, the last two being at double figures to win. The unsuccessful horses with No. 13 were Forest Jewel, Win Huon, and Our Peggy. One pound invested to win on each No. 13 would have netted a profit Of £41 17s 6d, so that in this instance it proved a most lucky number. instead of an "unlucky" one. There was a similar run of success on the first day of the Avondale Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting, with horses carrying No. I saddle cloth. Airam, Round Up, Pirate King, and Brazilian were all victorious, while Vaalso, Nora Gregor, and Ivar were second, and the remaining No. 1, Aero King, was third.
