CHRISTCHURCH, This Day,

The steeplechase rider J. Murfitt was seriously injured when his mount fell in a schooling bout at Riccarton this morning. Three horses had nearly completed a bout over eight steeplechase fences, being together at the first of the stand double, when Silver Sight ran across Court Yard and collided with Kaipear before running off. Kaipear was brought down and appeared to roll on Murfitt. The horseman was takeri to hospital, and was later reported to be deeply unconscious and in a serious condition^
