About thirty Wellington and thirty Hutt Valley table tennis players participated in the Wairarapa Association's open tourney held on Saturday night at the Winter Sports Club, Masterton. The tournament, which marked the opening of the 1939 table tennis season in the Wairarapa, attracted a record entry- The singles winners were the Hutt Valley players E. J. Hughes (holder of the North Island and Wellington men's singles titles and a member of the St. Ronans Club) and Miss P. Harvey (Empire). In the doubles L. Wilson and M. Gosling (Wellington) were successful.
