YACHTSMEN TO HELP

Steps are being taken by yachtsmen in Wellington with a view to making their services available to the Government in the event of emergency. The prime movers are Mr. G. H. Tanner and Mr. T. B. Reynolds, commodore and secretary respectively of the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Club, and they have called a meeting of yachtsmen, to be held in the Town Hall on Monday evening next. The Mayor of Wellington (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) will preside. It is felt that in view of their special knowledge yachtsmen would be able to play a valuable part in the defence of New Zealand.
