ENLISTMENT OF ROWERS

The Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones), in commenting today upon (the action of the members of the Wellington Star Boating Club in enlisting in the Territorials, said that he appreciated the spirit which had actuated them, and expressed the hope that members of other sporting bodies would follow their lead. It was gratifying to read the references of the examining doctors regarding the type of recruit now offering, he said. "From the training which men associated with sporting bodies undergo, and the importance of discipline and team work which is impressed upon them, such men usually develop qualifications of leadership which are so essential in a Territorial."
