CENTRAL LINE

ONSLOW ROAD JUNCTION

The City and Suburban Highways Board decided at its meeting today to ask the City Engineer (Mr. K. E. Luke) to investigate the question of painting a centre line and a turning point on the road surface at the junction of Hutt and Onslow Roads for the guidance of traffic. Proposals to construct a traffic island there and alternatively to remove two lengths of the fence to provide a wider turning place have been abandoned in favour of the line and central spot, which were suggested by Mr. W. Appleton.

Comment was made on the freedom of Onslow Road from accidents, Mr. E. Palliaer saying that the danger of the road helped to keep driving on it safe.
