MIRAMAR ESPERANTO SOCIETY

The weekly meeting of the Miramar Esperanto Society was held last night in the clubroom, St. Aidan's Hall, Miramar Avenue. Correspondence and Esperanto publications were received from China, Italy. France, Ireland, and Denmark. The president, Mr. Bertram Potts, welcomed Mr. Nelson Hill, D.8.E.A., of the Wellington Esperanto Club, who intends this week to form an Esperanto society in Karori. In reply Mr.. Hill stated that the Esperanto movement was making steady progress, not only in New Zealand but in-many foreign lands. His visit was mainly to observe the various methods of instruction in force at Miramar, so that he could profit from the experience in the new suburban society. Classes were formed and the first portion of the evening spent in tuition. The programme period opened with Mr. Potts appearing in the role of "Kolonelo Ebenezar Marzipan," presenting another episode in the adventurous career of the old colonel, the incident being/entitled "La Nigra Roko de Saturno ("The Black Rock From Saturn"). This was followed by an original monologue. "La Dentisto Forestis" (''The Dentist Was Absent"), presented by Mr. Jamea v s Wells.
