WELL-PATRONISED SIRES

Phaleron Bay and Broiefort, the two stallions standing at "The Grange" Stud, Westmere, had very full lists in the season recently closed. Phaleron Bay was mated with nearly .fiftymares, and Broiefort, though doing his first season, had upwards of forty consorts. The list of each was extended to meet the wishes of breeders.

Both stallions are looking in splendid condition at present. Broiefort a son of Blandford imported from France last year, has improved out of all knowledge since his arrival. He has filled out into a grand type of horse, difficult to fault in any respect, and he possesses the finest head and quarters one could ever wish in a stallion. He is a very docile animal and may be ridden anywhere by the stable hands without saddle or bridle.

The rising two-year-old by Phaleron Bay from Columba, who was purchased at the National Yearling Sales by Dr. A. McGregor Grant for 500 guineas, has entered K. J. Heaton's stable at Ellerslie. He is a sturdy colt and is well related, as Columba is a full-sister to the brilliant performers Eaglet and Mother Superior.
