WANGANUI NOTES
COMBINED LUNCHEON
(From "The Post's" Representative.)
For the first occasion for two years the Presbyterian Association, which includes all branches of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union in the Wanganui district, which usually meets at Marton, met at Wanganui. The roll-call was answered by 65 members of the different branches, who came from Foxton and Raetihi. Mrs. Norrie, of Westmere, presided. There was a luncheon party of 130, for the men attending the Presbytery meeting j were also entertained at lunch. Mrs. Owen Warnock, the convener, and her band of helpers were heartily congratulated on its success. Wedding. The Rev. A. F. Parr officiated at All Saints' Church at the wedding of Amie, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Malloy, and Mority, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Mark, both of Waganui. Owing to the illness of the bride's father, she was escorted by Mr. P. Bennett. Magnolia satin finished with tiny buttons, with long sleeves and train, was worn by the bride. Miss Thelma Mikkelson was bridesmaid, wearing aquamarine sheer with sash of cyclamen and a silver Juliet cap. Mr. j W. B. Broadhead was best man. Aj small j reception was held in Victoria Hall, when Mrs. Malloy received her guests wearing a smart tailored suit. China Party. Miss Alice Rogers, whose marriage to Mr. Piper will take place tonight, was the guest of honour at a gift evening recently. Her hostess was Miss Nancye McLaren. For an Easter Bride. Mesdames J. M. Abel and R. Dukeson organised an enjoyable gift after-^ noon, which was held in the Sunday school room at Hunterville on Wednesday in honour of Miss Mavis Morrison. Competitions and community singing passed an enjoyable hour. Personals. Mrs. R. J. Meads, Westmere, is visiting Masterton^for Easter. Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Cooke and Miss Cooke are visitingl Gisborne and Tokomaru Bay. Mrs. B. Bates has returned from Auckland. ! Miss Lyndon, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. H. C. Veitch. Miss C. Hihe has ' returned from a holiday spent in Wellington. Mrs. Sarrow, America, and ' Miss j Beagley, Wellington, are Mrs. P. Graves's guests. Mr. arid Mrs. T. Randall are visiting Mrs. W. B. Smith at Patea. Miss S. Nancarrow is visiting Mrs. S. Hodson in Hawke's Bay. Mrs. M. Walmsley, of Timaru, reI cently returned from Los Angeles^ and lis visiting Mrs. Gubbins at Waitotara. Mr. and Mrs. Milroy, Palmerston North, are visiting Mrs. J. Brown at Waverley. Miss J. Sheppard is visiting Miss J. McMillan at Dannevirke.
To prevent oily dirt getting into the pores when doing a job, rub vaseline well into your hands. Afterwards wash off with soap and warm water. Also when gardening, beforehand scratch a cake of soap with your nails and you will find that this prevents the dirt from collecting in them.
