LEVIN, This Day.
Levin is rapidly becoming' *■ Scotv minded. The recently-formed Scottish Society has made such progress that the membership has already passed the 200 mark, 'while ' the Pipe Band has 36 recruits. To aid the funds of the society, a garden party was held this week at the residence of Mr. Ken Shaw, Levin. Over 300 people were present and £50 was raised. A surprise visit was made by 12 members of the Manawatu Scottish Society's Pipe Band, and their playing added to the enjoyment of the afternoon.
In welcoming the. band, Mr. A. M... Colquhoun, chief, of the clans, said : the Manawatu had always looked on Horowhenua as its baby, and he was pleased to see they had accepted the responsibilities of nursing it. An exhibition of Highland drumming by Mr. Andy Hunter, ~of. Palmersjtpn jNdr,th,.,. was. much, appreciated. •'..'. i. XX.'. .",'."'
