PRIZE-WINNING SHOE

America's most beautiful shoe has just recently been selected as the result of the first national shoe design contest, held by the shoe industry under the auspices of the Kidskin Guild, states the "Christian Science Monitor." L. B. Eastman, a young designer of Dallas, Texas, was winner of the first award. Twenty prizes were awarded for designs of obvious merit by the judges, who were nationally famous designers and manufacturers of shoes. The "winning shoe was designed to harmonise with present fashions. Thus, its shape suggests skirts with a swing io them; the shoe is "belted" at the throat, as is theyfashionable dress, at the waistline. and; it is also pleated »to give the flaring lines shown by the current skirt. Health, comfort, ss well as smartness were considered by the designer. Thus, the shoe was made of kidskin because it is porous, shape-holding, and not only smart, but smooth and soft enough to ensure comfort, suppleness, and the glove-fitting quality sought by the designer.
