The excellent acceptance/ received for the Taranaki Trotting Club's Annual Meeting augurs well for the success of the carnival, and, judging by. the solid fields engaged in the respective races, some first-class light-harness sport should be witnessed tomorrow. A good deal of interest will centre in the clashes of the best of the North and South Island pacers, and this should provide some keen tussles for supremacy. Several newcomers are engaged, and their presence should add interest to the programme. Betting will be on the win-and-place system, and the following horses may be fancied:— Fitzroy Handicap.—Josette and Great Blaze. Waitara Handicap.—Blomfield and Leeleeta. Urenui Handicap.—Popeye and Drumcree. Taranaki Clip.—Mazaire and Ropata. Moturoa Handicap. — Parishioner and Great Blaze. Inglewood Handicap.—Money Queen and Air Pilot. Omata Handicap.—Popeye and Roma Girl. Farewell Handicap.—Loyal Direct and Ace High.
