NEW PLYMOUTH, March 28,

The nature of the strata in Taranaki has caused the New Zealand Petroleum Company's seismic survey party unexpected difficulties, and the time for the start of a systematic survey is indefinite.

The general clogginess of the earth and volcanic rock present conditions unlike anything yet encountered, and the scene of operations has been transferred from Lepperton to near Stratford.
