A REMOUNTS' SURPLUS

The Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, in replying to a deputation at Auckland last weekend, stated he had been informed that the New Zealand Racing and Trotting Conference had decided to grant £263 to the Department of Agriculture, being the amount in excess of the maximum of £4000, allowed under the Remounts Encouragement Act to be paid in any one year for subsidising stallions. "The success of this movement up to the present," said Mr. Parry, "is very gratifying, and there is every evidence that in. the very near future it will be greatly exceeded."
