SWIMMING

WELLINGTON CLUB

The Wellington Swimming Club held its final club night at the Thorndon Baths this week. The series of club nights this season has been well attended on the average, and the committee is well pleased with the results of its efforts to encourage swimming in Wellington.

The results of events held on March 13 were as follows:—

Boys' Race, 33 l-3yds.—D. Leary, 1; Jenkins, 2; Wetherburn, 3. Senior Men's 66 2-3yds.—Section A: F. Staub, 1; H. Thomas, 2; G. Watkinson, 3. Section B: O. Vaughan, 1; D. Binnie, 2; J. McKail, 3. 133 l-3yds Relay (teams of four).— W. Deavoll's E team, 1; O. Vaughan's B team, 2; G. Watkinson's D team, 3. Women's 66 2-3 yds (second distance for cup).—G. Smith, 5 points, 1; E. Haslam, 3 points, 2; C. Alexander, 1 point, 3.

Results of the events on the fina: night were:—

Men's 33 l-3yds Short-limit Handicap.—First heat: W. McLean, 1; J, McKail, 2; W. Deavoll, 3. Second heat: F. Staub. 1; N. Thomas, 2; D. J. Page, 3. Final: Deavoll, 1; Vaughan, 2; McKail, 3.

Women's 100 yds (final distance for cup).—Miss Alexander, 1; G. Smith, 2; M. Freeman, 3. Men's 880 yds (final distance, Commemoration Cup. held at Te Aro).—F. Pennington, 1; J. C. Blakeley, 2; D. Pelham, 3.

The Women's Cup was won by Miss G. Smith, 9 points, with Miss E. Haslam runner-up with 8 points. The Commemoration Cup was won by F. A. Pennington, 9 points, with J. C. Blakeley next, 6 points.
