INFORMATION ON DEPTHS.

Information about depths, etc., is contained in a notice to mariners. At the lower harbour at Whangarei, the least water In the channel Is 16ft, in position 316deg 0.7 miles from northern extremity of the pier on Single Tree Point. A bar at this depth extends east and west across the channel.

The beacon in position 279deg 0.62 miles from the south-western extremity of Passage Island no longer exists. A small red barrel buoy is moored in position 294deg 0.73 miles from the south-western extremity of Passage Island and marks the end of the one-fathom line. ;

A rocK with less than six feet of water on it exists in position 245deg 0.12 miles from the pier (lat. 35deg 48.8min S.. long. 174deg 29.7 mm E.) In JlcLeod Bay.

The positions of the unlighted Deacons marking the channel are not to be depended upon.

At Miners Head the roqk charted as P.A. north-westward of the head has a least depth of 43ft and fs situated 314deg 1 mile from the western extremity of the head.

At Mofco Hinau Islands (lat. 3"Hlefi 36mln S.. iong. 175deg 08min E.). a rock with less than Oft over !t exists 0.3 miles northward of Navire Rock. A depth of 13 fathoms exists 0.75 miles northward of Simpson Rock.

No rock exists in lat. 36deg Olmin S., tong. 174deg 39.2min E.. and the least depth in the vicinity is 23 fathoms. A rock, known locally as McGregor'Rock, with a least depth of 20ft, exists in position OSOtleg 1.25 miles from the pastern extremity of Bream Tall.

Bream Rock (lat. 35des 50min S., long. 174 deg 36.7inin E.) has a least depth of 12ft over U.
