WELLINGTON COLLEGE GARDEN PARTY

To provide funds for the erection of three fives courts, a garden party will be held on the college grounds on Saturday afternoon. The programme promises to eclipse that given last year, which will be remembered for its wonderful displays of marching, acrbbatics, and physical training by the pupils and picturesque stalls in huge marquees. Besides afternoon tea there will be stalls for the sale of produce, cakes, flowers, novelties, sweets, drinks, ices, books, and magazinesThere will be cinema screenings, promenade concert items, and items by the Boys' Institute Band and the Caledonian Pipe Band. One of the big attractions will be the presentation of spectacular action songs by the Ngati-Poneke Young Maori Party under the leadership of Mr. Kingi Tahiwi, sen. Displays of hobbies will also be an attractive feature. The charge for admission to the grounds is sixpence, and there will be a small charge for those who wish to play tennis or swim in the baths. In the evening a dance arranged by the school prefects will be held in the school gymnasium. In view of the attention focused on physical fitness and the great advantage to pupils of having facilities for the fine game of fives it is hoped that the garden party will be warmly supported by all interested in Wellington College. ____ — __^_ -—
