Senor Barrio, speaker of the Cortes, said: "General Miaja is a man who can agree with General Franco and restore peace to Spain. The new Defence Council is in complete agreement with the desire to end the war." v
Reuters' Madrid correspondent says that a balance of the portents point to an orderly surrender.
