WELLINGTON V. MANAWATU
The annual games between the Wellington Bowling Centre and the Manawatu Bowling Centre were held on the "Wellington Bowling Club's greens yesterday afternoon, the home players winning by 61 points on the aggregates. Mr. M. J. Casey, president of the Wellington centre, welcomed the visitors, and Mr. J. A. Nash, president of the Manawatu centre, replied on their behalf. Each team consisted of 16 fours, each four of the visiting team being drawn from one of the Manawatu clubs. The results are as follows, the names of the Wellington skips being mentioned first;—O'Donnell 25, Shrimp-
ton (Oroua) 20; Fairway 24, Child (Terrace End) 18; Bird 23, Langelan (Levin Central) 10; Lock 28, J. A. Nash (Palmerston North) 15; Crocker 17, Hyde (Shannon) 22; Stonehouse 14, Ingram (Feilding) 31; Ingram 18, Paton (Palmerston North) 22; Gray 21, Hawkes (Woodville) 12; Hay-Macken-zie 27, Mawlen (Palmerston North) 13; James 14, Mattar (Foxton) 19; Ryan 14, Henderson (Takaroa) 23; Jones 23, Cater (Hokowhitu) 16; Cross 30, Stevens (Bulls) 17; Munro 15, O'Shea (Terrace End) 15; J. G. Reid 26, Wood (Northern) 14; Conder 20, Blake (Manawatu) 15. Totals: Wellington 341, Manawatu 280. While the games were being played on the Wellington Club's green, four fours from the Manawatu played the Victoria Club, the following being the results, Victoria skips mentioned first: —Roberts 29, Simmons 13; Ross 22, Lovelock 22; McKenzie 18, Brown 18; Kilgour 7, Roore 23. In the morning the Manawatu players played friendly matches with vari[ous Wellington cluba.
