Spectators, touts, owners, handlers, trainers, riders, and followers were all on hand to give the sequence the realistic .colour of a large track during the season. Another track, a replica of Hollywood Park, was constructed on the sixty acres adjoining the M-G-M studios, so that close-ups could be filmed there while the regular track was open to the public. Mickey arrived back from Nebraska, where he had been working in scenes for "Boys Town," just in time to start the new picture.
