EASTER CARNIVAL
HUTT VALLEY PROPOSALS
A meeting of the Easter carnival committee of the Hutt Valley Centennial organisation was held last evening under the chairmanship of Mr. C. P. Brockelbank. , A committee was set up to interview the Lower Hutt Municipal Band to see if arrangements could be made so that the efforts of the two bodies would not clash. Mr. J. R. Gaynor reported a tentative programme of sports for the first day and evening of the carnival, a feature of which will be a mile event in which V. P. Boot, Pullar, and others may be contestants. Mr. Gaynor offered to see the Petone and Lower Hutt Fire Brigades about staging a "dark town" brigade event. ' ; The arrangements regarding the pro-, cession were placed in the hands of ai committee and Mr. M. Love offered to! find a marshal. - The organising of the national dancing was left in the hands of the various j Valley dancing studios. j Mr. L. Haggett volunteered to ar- j range for inter-house contests among the various firms. A message was received from the) military authorities offering to arrange I a military display. '• The Hutt Valley Horticultural Society is to be requested to arrange a floral pageant and the Lower Huttj and Petone Plunket Society to stage a baby show. | ' The arranging of side-shows was left in the hands of a sub-committee of which Mr. W. B. Gough is chairman. Messrs. Gregory and Morrison promised to obtain a plan of the Lower Hutt Recreation Ground. An executive of the committee was formed of the chairman and secretary of each sub-committee.
