Fine weather prevailed yesterday, .and except for sea breezes on the eastern coasts, the winds were light to moderate southerlies. Temperatures were mild. The anticyclone covering the eastern Tasman Sea had moved on to the North Island by this morning, but a weak depression passing in the south had caused winds to turn to westerlies or nprtherlies from Taranaki southwards, and skies to become rather cloudy in the far south.
