RUGBY, February 15.
Asked in the House of Commons today whether the British Government was willing to take iotive steps to secure a settlement of the Spanish war on the basis that all foreign troops should be withdrawn, that there should be no reprisals, and that- the Spanish people should have an opportunity of choosing the future form of their Government, Mr. Chamberlain said:—
"The British Government is most anxious to see a termination of the war in Spain without further bloodshed, and will keep in touch with both sides in case its services are desired to bring them together."
