DRAW WITH WAIKATO

DEMPSTER TOP StfORER

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) HAMILTON, February 16.

Sir Julien Cahn's cricketers played a drawn game with Waikato, holders of the Hawke Cup, the match concluding at Seddon Park today. Waikato made 131 and the visitors 304 for eight wickets.

Dempster and Heane played correct cricket and the lunch score was 63 for one wicket. Dempster was having trouble with the thumb he injured in Wellington, but produced some splendid off shots and well-placed strokes on the leg side. He hit one 6 and. three 4's.

Hardstaff never settled down, but Oldfleld displayed some fine wristy shots. The bowling of Clough, Everest, and Going was very steady, with loose balls few and far between. The Waikato fielding was also much better than previously. The visiting tail-enders played sound cricket and considerably improved the position. s Details:— WAIKATO. First Innings 131 CAHN'S ELEVEN.
