INDUCTION CEREMONY

CHRISTCHURCH, February 16,

The twenty-seventh annual conference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand was opened this evening when the Rev. Angus Mcßean, Ashburton, was inducted as president. There was a large congregation of ministerial and lay delegates and visitors. Mr. Mcßean was introduced by the retiring president,. the Rev. R. Percy Paris (Wellington), who handed him the insignia of office. Mr. Mcßean then delivered his presidential address. Mr. Kershaw (Christchurch) was elected vice-presidenf for the ensuing ! year, being welcomed by the president and Mr. J. C. Tietjens (Hamilton), ' retiring vice-president.

Sessions of the conference will continue for about a week.
